Tight battle
Steve Van Der Knaap, a newcomer to tenpin bowling who won the men’s final of the Garden City Christmas bowls classic tournament had a tight battle to subdue Keith Malaquin. Van Der Knaap bowled the high game over-all handicap scoring 256, while David Scott bowled the high game over-all with 233. Jill Cumberland took the honours in the women’s section when she beat top qualifier June Koster. The women’s high game handicap and scratch games were bowled by Diane Malaquin with scores of 235 and 210.
