Motor-cycle grand prix

The annual New Zealand motor-cycle grand prix to be held at Ruapuna raceway on January 2 and 3 will also, include the third round of the New Zealand championship and the final round of the international series. The programme includes 36 races combining several classes. Each class has a preliminary and two or three points races. More than $17,000 in prizemoney is up for grabs and in the larger Formula one and senior production classes competition is fierce.

A new class — Formula three — will also be raced. In the Formula one competition, Richard Scott on a Honda RSSOO and Glen Williams on his Suzuki 1100 will be top contenders but will have to watch Bob Toomey on his GSX 1100. Toomey won both heats in a recent meeting at Manfield. A wild card for the Formula one class will be Marty Dock, also riding a GSX 1100. The Canterbury Autocycle Club is again hosting the event and will be using a computerised system for collating results.
