New heart boy’s mum ‘really over the moon’
All that Mrs Trish Robinson could think of when she heard of her son’s imminent heart transplant on Christmas Day was “Thank God.” “I’m really over the moon,” she said from Auckland last evening. It had been a long wait for a donor heart for the Christchurch family. Phillip Robinson, aged 13, had been waiting at Green
Lane Hospital with his mother for more than five weeks. Mrs Robinson said Phillip’s doctor had told them he would “pop in to say hello on Christmas Day.” So when he arrived yesterday morning the Robinsons thought it was just a routine visit. When the doctor told them about the donor heart, Mrs Robinson said it was “just unbeliev-
able.” Phillip said to the doctor: “You’re not having me on?” Mrs Robinson said the next few days would be crucial as far as Phillip’s recovery was concerned. But Phillip was looking forward to a number of things. “He just wants to be able to play with his friends and be a normhl little teenager again.”
