Landora’s Pride ready to win tonight

Special correspondent Auckland Landora’s Pride looks well placed to carry on with her fine record on the Claudelands track when she contests the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Waikato Trotting Club’s meeting this evening. Landora’s Pride won her first race on the Claudelands track almost five years ago. The eight-year-old Game Pride mare’s Pukekohe trainer and part-owner, Trevor Allingham, said yesterday that his bonny trotter had pleased him since her fine efforts at the New Zealand Cup meeting at Addington last month. "She has done really well since coming home,” Allingham said. "She has been working well and I expect her to race well. Landora’s Pride has not raced since finishing an unlucky third to Simon Katz and Tyron Scottie in the D.B. Dominion Handicap at Addington on November 21. Allingham said Landora’s Pride was too far back turning for home and did well to finish third. Admiral Soanai, which had no luck on his Addington campaign, should be the hardest for Landora’s Pride to bowl. He was forced over extra ground in the New Zealand Free-For-All and the Dominion Handicap. The Game Pride 10-year-old gelding scored a convincing win at the Claudelands trials last week, a better pointer to his worth. Of the remainder Joe and Laredo look the best.
