Exports fall
Merchandise exports incurred an 11.4% fall in October to 5876.4 M compared with the previous corresponding period, the Statistics Department said. Exports to New Zealand’s top trading partners for the four months to October 31 were: Japan, 5683.4 M (17.9% of total exports); Australia, 5660.1 M (17.3%), United States 5543.7 M (14.3%), United Kingdom, 5364.9 M (9.6%), the Federal Republic of Germany, 596.1 M (2.5%), and Belgium, 587.1 M (2.3%). Fishing head Mr Ray Dobson will be the New Zealand Fishing Industry Board’s new chief executive from early next year. He will replace Mr Nick Jarman who resigned from the board in September. Mr Dobson has been employed with the former Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for the last 14 years.
