Young musicians

The featured soloists at the Christchurch Youth Orchestra’s final concert of 1987 are four of the 12 members who gained selection for the National Youth Orchestra in August. They are Sarah McClelland (violin), Katherine Hebley (cello), Samantha

Owens (oboe), and Selena Barkle (bassoon). The work they will play with the orchestra is Haydn’s “Sinfonie Concertante in B flat.” The C.Y.O. will also play Beethoven’s Overture: "Leonora No. 3,” and Dvorak’s “Scherzo Capriccioso.”

The guest conductor for the concert is David Vine, who is conductor of groups such as the Academy Opera and the Academy of St Albans Chamber Orchestra. The concert is in the Christchurch Cathedral on Friday commencing at 12.40 p.m.
