Solid support for Florlis Fella

Special correspondent Wellington Florlis Fella will come in for solid support when he contests the Foxton Fries Mobile Pace, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Wellington Harness Racing Club’s meeting at Hutt Park this evening. Florlis Fella bounced back from a couple of disappointing efforts at the New Zealand Cup meeting to win at Addington on November 17, beating the three-year-old, Kincaid, and Satanic. He had not had the best of luck in his two previous races and had started the season off well with a second and a third at Oamaru.

Florlis Fella has always looked useful and should prove too good for his rivals this evening.

The main dangers appear to be Saint Ella and Iffy Tryax. Saint Ella could not have been more impressive when winning a double on the track in November and has certainly taken on a new lease of life. A good draw should see him prominent most of the way. Iffy Tryax was a placegetter on the track last month and has since returned a good effort for fourth at Addington on November 21. She has only had three

runs this campaign and should be still improving. Russley Bridge raced well on both nights at Manawatu after starting from 10 metres behind and has a good record at Hutt Park while Citation is a likely improver from the No. 1 draw. The Lordship three-year-old won a double on the track earlier in the season and has since run three consecutive seconds, the latest being at Alexandra Park on November 20 when he was narrowly beaten by Cherie’s Fella after starting from the second row.

He has drawn well at No. 6 on the front line this evening and driver, Colin Butler, is likely to try for an all the way win.

Haughty Choice has been battling a little lately but was placed twice at Hutt Park last month and should be prominent again from a handy draw. She will be driven by Maurice McKendry. Striking Sharvid has not raced since September but is a consistent type while Sure Smile and Morere appeal most of the others.
