Exchange’s chief resigns
NZPA-Reuter Hong Kong The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong says it has accepted the resignation of its chief executive officer, Mr Jeffrey Sun, effective from January 31.
It said Mr Sun submitted his resignation last month and that he planned to emigrate to Canada. It did not elaborate.
Stock exchange officials were criticised for closing the exchange for four days in October after a steep slide on Wall Street. A special committee has been set up to review stock and futures market operations. Mr Robert Fell, formerly the colony’s Commissioner of Banking and Securities, assumed the post of senior chief executive officer of the exchange last month.
