Benefit match for Edgar
The two protagonists from the infamous “underarm bowling incident,”; Trevor Chappell and Brian McKechnie, are to bury the hatchet at a benefit match for former New Zealand opener, Bruce Edgar. . The Lion Brown event will take place at Wellington's Basin Reserve on Sunday, December 20, and will take the form of a double wicket tournament McKechnle and Chappell will partner each other, playing against other New Zealand former internationals and regional representatives, in the six team event. Other confirmed partners are Lance Cairns and his son.
Chris, Wellington’s Ritchie and Maguiness and negotiations are continuing with other overseas players. The tournament will be played as a round robin which will eliminate 2 teams, leaving the remaining four to play in a sudden death semifinal/flnals play-off. The tonraament will be part of a fun day, which will include a club cricketers triathlon in which each Wellington club will have two representatives. . The triathlon will comprise a catching event, a throwing event, and a running event (in full cricket gear) with the winning team receiving a number of valuable prizes.
