‘The Land of Make Believe’
TARA BENSON,
aged nine, of Nelson Hi, I’m Oink and I go meow! Some of my friend’s names are: Moo, she goes baa, and another is called Chirp and shes goes rrrr. One day Chirp was walking around and Moo was eating grass, and I was watching the radio, it was a normal day. I was outside. It was raining knives and forks, suddenly a fork bounced on my head. "Ouch,” I said. It really hurt. I swam inside. Then the boat started to make a funny noise. I said to myself. "Oh well, that’s normal.” But it did sound rather weird. Maybe it was the boat, or maybe it was my pussypup. Or even weird er it could have been, but I’m not positive. It could have been me.
This week’s winner A tricky tale of Oink in the Land of Make Believe by Tara Benson, aged nine, of Nelson, is this week’s $lO Junior Press Mailbag prizewinner. Do not forget your entries in the design a Christmas card contest! Post all work to “Junior Press,” “The Press,” Private Bag, Christchurch. Then I heard a kick on the window. It was Koalaroo, I asked him what she didn’t want. She said that they needed a bar of chocolate to wash their hands. I said, ‘Just a minute and I won’t go and get it."
"Here it is.” She said, “Hello,” I did too, then she went. Then it was time for my shower. I went to get my nightie, and then I got into the bath. It was nice and cot, (cold and hot). After that I went to bed. I had a really weird nightdream. Suddenly I awoke, “Gosh what a nightdream.” Then the sun-moon started to shine through the window. “Oh well, time not to get up,” I said. So I got up, “Now what can I have for tea,” “I think I’ll have some cornflakes and some toast with peanut/jam on it.” Wow what a day this is going to turn out to be. In the end it wasn’t such a bad day after all.
