Waikato Stud loss
Waikato Stud, the thoroughbred breeding company, went deeper into the red in the 16 months to July 31, losing $4,025,000, compared with $522,000 in the previous corresponding period. No dividend has been recommended by the directors for the 16 month period. Gross income rose 9.8 per cent to $2,933,000, but the pre-tax loss was
$4,025,000 ($434,000 loss previously). The managing director, Mr T. G. McHenry, said in the announcement that charges and expenses included $1.7 million in interest paid to third, parties, and writing down of $659,000 in unborn foetuses and yearlings.
There were no extraordinary items in the latest period ($BB,OOO loss).
