Fijian ties sought
NZPA-AAP Suva The republic of the Marshall Islands has recognised Fiji’s republican Government, according to a Fiji. Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman. The spokesman said in a statement issued through the Information Department that recognition was “expressed” in a diplomatic Note from the Marshall Islands Foreign
Ministry seeking formal diplomatic relations between the two republics. The Note also asked for help in locating an office in Suva for a future Marshall Islands consulate, the statement said. The seven-week-old Fiji republic has been recognised by Papua New Guinea, South Korea and a number of other countrles., '
