Deputy manager resigns

The resignation of the Blenheim Borough Council’s deputy general manager, Mr Keith Cloughly, was accepted with deep regret at the monthly meeting of the council on Wednesday evening. The general manager, Mr Jim Crichton, will prepare recommendations for the December executive meeting on the necessary. organisational changes resulting from the resignation. Mr Cloughly has been an employee of the council for 27 years, for the last 20 of which he has been borough engineer, and more recently deputy

general manager. Mr Cloughly said the last 20 years had been particularly busy and productive for the council. Results of the work were clearly evident in almost every corner of the borough. “I am pleased to have been part of that process and to have contributed to the work done. Given continued improvements of a similar magnitude Blenheim clearly has an assured future," he said. Mr Cloughly will be leaving Blenheim when his resignation becomes effective on February 24. He will be taking up a

similar position with a North Island local authority. Tributes to the contribution made by Mr Cloughly were paid by councillors and the Mayor, Mr Leo McKendry. Mr McKendry made special mention of the work done by Mr Cloughly towards beautification of the town and the innovative style of reading he had introduced. He said this had set Blenheim apart and created something for the rest of New Zealand to use as an example.
