Ankorman, a grass-track specialist and boasting an impeccable form background, is hard to go past in the D. B. Geraldine Trust Cup Handicap at the Orari meeting tomorrow.

The first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Geraldine Trotting Cub’s meeting has drawn a useful field of intermediategrade stayers. Ankorman, an impressive winner of the Waikouaiti Cup over tomorrow's distance of 3200 m, in a track record 4:17.4, continued his fine form at the New Zealand Cup meeting, with seconds to False Image and Speedy Cheval respectively on the first two days, then produced another fine staying effort to hold out Megatrend over 2600 m mobile on the last night of the carnival last Saturday. Last season’s New Zealand Oaks winner, Young Eden, made a promising debut from Richard Brosnan’s Kerrytown stable last Saturday, finishing strongly late to beat all but Great Provider. Brosnan, who has been headed off by just one point in the national trainers’ premiership by Qevedon’s Roy and Barry Purdon, will be looking to pull back the 20-19 deficit with his usual strong line-up around the country circuit, and Young Eden is one of his leading prospects. Light Foyle, another noted grass-track stayer, missed the final night of the NZ Cup meeting with a stone bruise flaring up, but cannot be ruled out of this.
