Licensing trust review

PA Wellington The New Zealand Licensing Trusts Association has announced that it would conduct a national review of the role of licensing trusts. The information highlighted by the review would form part of submissions the association would make to the Government on the Sale of Liquor Bill. The bill, which is due to be introduced to Parliament soon, comes after recommendations made in the Laking Report, published last November. “The association believes the 26 Licensing Trusts play a vital role in New Zealand’s expanding hospitality trade, providing the principal and most successful alternative to the interests of the two breweries,’’ said the president of the Association, Mr Keith Eddy. “Trusts’ independence is reflected in that they offer a mubh wider variety of brand products.”
