Juniors in limelight

As a consequence of the increase in the numbers of young men and women bowlers in the last five years, junior bowlers are now starting to attract sponsorship of their own, instead of having to play in senior tournaments. One such event is the inaugural Wrightcars Toyota and Runaway Holidays sponsored junior pairs tournament at the Linwood Bowling Club tomorrow.

Many of Canterbury’s leading juniors are in the field, including Steve Smith and Greg Reed (Redcliffs), lan Kamo and

Andrew Curtain (Linwood), Gary Lawson and Shane Sincock (Sydenham), Michael Anderson and Murray Shaw (Linwood),and Ron Hope and Terry Rutland (Woolston W.M.C.). ' The tournament will be conducted in eight sec-'' tions of four teams, with the section winners playing off for j flrst prize. the successful pair will be flown to Auckland, where they will receive automatic entry into the, Papakura junior classic pairs tournament on January 8-10 next year.
