The work entails main frame operation, completion of reports, handling computer out-put, liaising with end users, engineers, Telecom, communications suppliers, some stores control etc. There will be opportunity to gain experience in micro networking. Previous main frame experience, preferably Burroughs/Unisys hardware, is required. PC experience or network control experience would be helpful. You must be mature (early twenties and up), able to set priorities and to work effectively under pressure without close supervision, and have absolute Integrity. University Entrance desirable and a drivers licence is required. In the last year we changed to an IBM system 36PC with multi terminals and printers using Powercorp BPCS software, with a link to our Auckland branch. We run an on-line order entry inventory and sales system for our extensive countrywide network of representatives, accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledgers. The position would suit someone experienced in mini computers, having an interest development of reports on a report generator. The successful applicant would be responsible for back ups, security of the system, and working with Powercorp Ltd software support personnel. They will also be involved In training users as well as reviewing applications. The duties include some input of records, and book keeping knowledge would be an advantage, but not essential.
