World ploughing for Otago
The Taieri Ploughing Association will host the world ploughing championships in either 1994 or 1995 on a site near Outram, Otago.
The decision giving the Taieri association responsibility for the championships was made at a meeting in Christchurch this week of the
New Zealand Ploughing Association. Other applications to host the championships were- made by the. Lincoln association (which had the event in 1967 and 1980) and the Rakala association. The 1995 world championships have already been set down for New Zealand, but there is a
possibility the 1994 event will be allocated to New Zealand instead. A decision will be made at the 1988 championships In the United States. The Taieri association intends holding the championships on a 4«ha site on the Taieri Plains. The soil in this area has a good structure and depth.;''
