School boy killed
PA Dunedin A schoolboy, aged 15, was killed at Oamaru yesterday afternoon when the motor-cycle he was riding and the northbound Southerner passenger train collided. He was Ross David Batchelor, a Waitaki Boys’ High School' pupil, of Oamaru.
The accident occurred at 3.35 p.m. at the railway crossing at the school. An Oamaru police spokesman said initial inquiries showed the lights and bells at the crossing were working. Y
