N.Z. golfers third
PA Bangkok Led by Brent Paterson with a four-round total of 292, New Zealand held on to third place in the Asian Pacific amateur golf teams championships in Bangkok. Paterson also provided the highlight of the day with a hole-in-one on the fifth. In the team tourna-
ment, Japan, ahead by four strokes, found its lead reduced by defending champions Australia to the point where at the end of the final day, both teams were tied at 877. But Japan won the playoff to take the team title for the seventh time at the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course.
