Linwood City Mall plays host this week to an affair of the heart (not to mention a selection of fare for the heart), as National Heart Week gets underway. The Heart Foundation displays and demonstrations are intended to blend with the spirit of the Food and Wine Fair, also at Linwood City Mall this week, In a move to give healthy foods a more glamorous and accessible image. A step towards this new image is made with the release . of the National Heart Founda-

tion’s new cook-book, “Fine Food For The Heart,” which goes on sale this week. The recipes feature microwave instructions, and with this in mind the foundation have scheduled microwave demonstrations at the Mall from Wednesday onwards with recipes from the book. They also intend to educate people in the language of food labels, and have translated some of the most popular manufacturing terms into English for the

benefit of the unwary consumer. Weight is another area the foundation highlight Their display offers the opportunity to find out if you are a “healthy” weight The weights of willing passers-by will be plotted (with small red hearts, naturally) on a special chart to establish a pattern. The over-all emphasis is on having a good time, with no shortage of heart-shaped stickers, posters and balloons floating around, all designed to show people that healthy food can also be fun food.
