Body builders offer home programme
Christchurch people too self-conscious of their bodies to be seen fighting flab in public gymnasiums will soon be able to take advantage of a • home weight-training programme to be offered in November by two Christchurch body builders. A South Island bodybuilding champion, Paul Yaxley, and his partner, Terry Saltnes, formed “Better Bodies,” a health and ; fitness and model agency firm, two months ago. Their company incorporates a male and female fashion model agency and sells bodybuilding clothing, equipment, and vitamin supplements.
Now the pair are launching a home weighttraining programme for people who are out of shape, but who, for one reason or another, do not like going to gymnasiums. Clients would be able to build up a sweat without feeling ashamed or embarrassed that they could not keep up, said Mr Yaxley. A complete training and dietary, programme would be offered in the privacy of their own homes. Weight-train-
tag equipment would be provided for clients, Including a bench press, dumbelis, bars and miscellaneous weights. "A lot of people are not prepared to go to a gym, because they feel they have to be at least partway in shape before they go,” said Mr Yaxley. Many gymnasiums were also so crowded it was hard to find a space to exercise, he said. The time it took to build up muscle tone and get the body into a desirable shape depended on how long an individual took to lose or gain fat. The body-building team would offer a “more-per-sonalised service,” once or twice a week over a certain period depending on the individual. The service was aimed at men and women, so that women with children not able to get out of the house could also take advantage of the programme, said Mr Yaxley.
The model agency complemented the weight training, particularly for male models who were much 'in demand by fashion magazines, he said.
■J’KSrUnSE to help (at film stars into shape have , also proved popular in the United states although Mr Yaxley said the company was not yet aspiring to that sort of stardom. A price for the service had not yet been finalised, but Mr Yaxley said it would not be too expensive tor people to afford. 'Women wanting to know more about the weight-training programme will be able to see Mr Yaxley in action at the “Women on the Move” show at the Christchurch Town Hail at the end of the month, where he will demonstrate his sport ,
