Westmere wins trophy in style

Westmere came through in impressive style when he beat Otaki Cub in the Americas Trophy final at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club's on-course totalisator meeting at Queen Elizabeth H Park last evening. The Ray Adcock-trained brindle dog settled wen into the pace set by Otaki Club. He managed to get in behind Jenny Wadderin which was threading her way through the field to be in a challenging position on the home turn. Otaki Club will held a handy advantage, but managed to pull in the big black-and-white dog near the line to take the honours. Spanish Pride, which raced handy throughout, held third from the hard-finishing Jenny Wadderin wide out' on the track. The Peter Ragg-owned and trained Metallic Bandit raced away to win the second feature on the evening’s card, the Flying Stakes. After missing the jump, the brindle dog railed under Club Captain which held a narrow advantage over the field, to take the lead. ' Waathar fin*; track firm.
