It will be an early start for the crew of the coastal schooner Tuhoe when they make the return voyage to Kaiapoi tomorrow. The Tuhoe will leave Lyttelton at 3 a.m. in order to catch the high tide at 6 a.m. The vessel cannot sail over the sandbar at the mouth of the Waimakariri River unless there is a high tide. Captain Euan Crawford, Deputy Harbourmaster at Timaru, is a member of the Tuhoe Preservation Society and will pilot the 86-year-old vessel over the bar.
