The winners of the Christchurch Catholic diocesan centennial art competition, Joanne Dickison (right) and Lelia Markham, both sixformers at Marian College, display their entries. Joanne Dickison was the winner of the senior section, and Lelia Markham runner-up in a competition that attracted more than 2600 entries from the diocese. The winning entry wil be the
cover of the centennial booklet to be published In November, marking the end of the celebrations. More than 1000 copies of the booklet will be printed on the Christchurch Teachers’ College printing press. The two pupils will join winners of other categories at an award presentation by the Catholic Bishop of Christ-
church, the Most Rev. Basil Meeking, at the Religious Education Centre in Christchurch on Sunday, October 11. Centennial celebrations wil close with a special Mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament on Sunday, November 22 at 2 p.m. An exhibition of parish histories is being collated for display in the cathedral.
