Minimum pay rate rises 6.7 p.c.

Minimum wage and salary rates increased an average of 6.7 per cent in the year ended June, 1987, according to figures given yesterday by the Statistics Department. Rates in the private sector rose 6.5 per cent, compared with 6.7 per cent in the Government sector and 7.1 per cent in the local authority sector. The figures relate to legal minimum and mandatory ordinary-time wage and salary rates for adult full-time employees.
