30 to vie in motoring trials
About 30 cars will contest the third round of the Formula Shell Gold Star trials championship' in the Horowhenua and Manawatu areas on Sunday. Unlike car rallies, the emphasis in car trials is on navigation, time-keep-
ing and map-reading rather than speed. There are four rounds in the national car trials series. The first two were .in Canterbury in June and the final event will be held in Auckland next month. Seven South Island
crews are entered for Sunday’s event, including the series leader and first round winner, Guy Balani, whose navigator is the 1975 Gold Star champion, Barry Higham. Other leading Christchurch drivers are the second round winner,
