Faith restored

Sir,—lt was heartening to read the comments of Bob Hoskins (September 19) who has recently won eight awards for his acting in “Mona Lisa.” Speaking of films such as “Rambo” and “Cobra,” he said: "With all the trouble and strife in the world today, making a film about Rambo going to Vietnam and, seemingly, single-handed, wiping out all the gooks ... to me, it’s completely irresponsible and immoral.” He talks of being “pleased no end” making a film where “things happen because someone loves someone.” In my eyes he deserves another award for restoring faith in the power of love as opposed to the power of hatred. — Yours, etc., JILL WILCOX. September 20,1987.
