Hold-up investigation widens
Investigation into the $14,000 armed hold-up at the Addington branch of Trustßank Canterbury has widened to the North Island. Police wanted to speak with two persons in connection with the robbery, said Detective Senior-Ser-geant Arthur Rodgers, who heads the inquiry. The two, now possibly
in the North Island, should be able to “assist” the inquiry, he said. Detective Senior-Ser-geant Rodgers would not release the identities of the two, but said that they were male Maoris aged in their 20s. Two men, wearing fullface crash helmets and armed with what appeared to be pistols,
entered the Lincoln Hoad bank shortly before closing tlnie last Friday evening. They held up the six staff and three custom’ers and escaped with about $14,000. About $4OOO of this was later found in a street in Spreydon.
