Samson in Queensland
Samson, which was last successful in the 1985 Kurow Cup, left Canterbury for Australia last week to join Michael Dux’s Queensland team. The sale of the former smart two and three-year-old pacer, now six, was negotiated by the Willowby horseman, Kevin Townley. Dux’s stable star, Sunset Candios, still remains likely to return to New Zealand for the $300,000 Toyota New Zealand Cup in November. “It will be a nice drop in class for him over there rather than chasing the likes of Happy Sunrise around Addington,” said Townley of Samson, which raced only once last term, finishing last at Addington in March.
