Bargain hunters advised to be punctual
That popular annual attraction, the Saint Thomas of Canterbury College school fair is on this Saturday. Stalls open at 10.30 a.m., and bargain hunters are advised to be punctual, as past experience has shown there is little left of the wide range of goods by early afternoon.
The fair is again held at the school, located in Middlepark Road, Sockburn, between Yaldhurst Road and Main South Road. Ample parking is available. The committee of the parents and friends Association has worked long and hard to provide excellent stalls selling such things as produce
and plants, clothing, toys and crafts, sweets, cakes, white elephant items and have also donated items as prizes for the lucky spin and donated tractor rides will be also be available for the children. In addition each class at the college prepares a stall in keeping with the age and skills of the boys. A bonus this year is the
major prize in the fair raffle. It is a return ticket for two to any Ansett Airlines destination in New Zealand. Brother Bill Dowling, the deputy principal of the college said they were very grateful to Ansett for this sponsorship and support, and wished to
sincerely acknowledge this special donation. They also wished to pay tribute to ail college supporters, in particular the advertisers who have made this page possible, he said. Proceeds from this year’s fair will go towards better facilities and equipment for the students.
