South Pacific Ceramics, Limited’s staff member, Sally Griggs, a highly qualified in-house designer and colour co-ordi-nating specialist, finds that a more discerning public are becoming increasingly aware of her creative, specialised service. Following overseas trends, individualised hand-crafted murals are now being produced to clients’ own requirements. Sally’s latest eye-catch-ing hand-crafted graphic mural in striking black and white on imported 300 x 300 mm tiles is installed on a black tiled column at the entrance to the menswear shop of Symon and Lowther, Colombo Street. On display at the Building Centre are other examples of the Company’s innovative use of design, colour and glaze. The showroom name Tile Decor, logo and location map are reproduced on large floor tiles to show the extent to which ceramic tiles can be made to meet advertising and decorative requirements. The European ceramic tiles selected by their
buyer when recently overseas have arrived in time to be displayed at the Building Centre and are now available from the retail outlet of Tile Decor, 9 Nursery Road. Highlights from the range are the large wall tiles in marble patterns, plain pastels with or without decorative frieze. Subtle self-striped wall tiles in the new size of 120 x 180 are already creating much interest.
Another exclusive floor tile, a large 240 x 240 in light terracotta is suited to both residential and commercial use. Plain pastels in both wall and floor complete this exciting new range.
The vast range of information now available to the home owner via the media of magazines and manufacturers’ brochures is making people ever more conscious of just what is available in the way of home improvement materials, products and techniques. Consequently there has been a surge of interest in decorating and in fact all facets of home improvement.
