Seized drugs worth $1053M
PA Karachi Pakistani police have seized heroin and hashish worth $1053 million, said a spokesman. Police said five people, including two women, were arrested during the raids. Most of the drugs found in Pakistan come from the North-west Frontier Province and neighbouring Afghanistan.
Police said the two women were arrested after 646 kg of heroin worth $1053 million was seized from a car at Dera Ismail Khan in northern Pakistan. Three men accompanying the women ran away.
On the same day police raided a long distance truck at Khairpur in the east and found 1200 kg of hashish. Another 150 kg of hashish was seized from a car in Karachi after the arrest of two drug carriers. Customs officials recently seized more than 1200 kg of hashish destined for Saudi Arabia hidden in deep-freezers for fish.
