The Rodney County, (population 43,976) is located immediately north di metropolitan Auckland and is a rapidly developing area with a wide variety of urban, rural and coastal developments. The Council’s head office is in Orewa. The County Planner heads the Planning Division which is responsible for co-ordinat-ing all planning, development and subdivision applications and for administering and reviewing the District Scheme. The Division has a staff of 14, principally professional planners and surveyors. The County Planner is one of the Divisional Heads who, together with the County Manager, forty the Management Team. The successful applicant will be a team person who has: — Management experience with strong leadership skills; — Knowledge and experience with the Town and Country Planning Act 1977, the Local Government Act 1974, and other statutes and legislation relevant to local Government; — A relevant tertiary qualification and is a Member of the New Zealand Planning Institute; — Good communication skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people from within and outside the Council.
