Kids’ class
Christchurch’s preschool musicians have another option with the introduction of music and movement classes at the Glasshouse Studio. The classes, run by Marilyn Staite, cater for pre-schoolers and juniors. Ms Staite says the 10 week programme aims to encourage the natural performer in the child without expecting him or her to be a performer. Marilyn Staite is the music and movement tutor at the Y.M.C.A. and is
the co-ordinator of the Early Childhood Resource Centre, Creative Junk. The Glasshouse Studio classes in the Peterborough Centre will include junk items used in musical ways. The classes will be held at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and at and 2.30 p.m. on Wednesdays. They began yesterday. On Saturday the Christchurch School of Instrumental Music began its classes in music for preschoolers.
