Top 10 slot for ‘Street’
NZPA Wellington "Coronation Street" continues to climb in popularity in the . television ratings, with the Thursday edition appearing in the top 10 programmes for the week September 6 to 12, according to A.G.8.: Research (NZ), Ltd. The Friday edition followed in fifteenth place. In the previous week the two programmes occupied eighteenth and twenty-sixth places respectively. “EastEnders” also showed a slight rise in popularity, reaching twenty-third place in the survey.
The remainder of the top ten programmes were taken up by “Anne of Green Gables — The Sequel,” which regained its first place after slipping to fourth last week, the 6.30 News, “The Cosby Show” and “Fawlty Towers,” the ratings researcher said in a statement * A new season of “Fair
Go” held the attention Of 25 per cent of the total viewing audience over the age of five. The rating was high enough for seventeenth place over all In the survey, with town and rural viewers voting it among their top 10 shows.
“Fair Go” was also the most popular of the 32 new programmes and movies to screen during the week. It outrated Ray- - mond Burr, appearing in the television movie “Perry . Mason — The Case of the Notorious Nun,” which was watched by 22 per cent of viewers, and “And Officer and a Gentleman," which took thirty-fourth place for its repeat screening.
“The Michael Jackson Special” was viewed by 17 per cent over all, but by 29 per cent of those aged five to 19. A hew series of “The Bill” was one per cent behind in the rating, beating “Country Calender," which just made it into fiftieth place.
