Treat household stains promptly
At least thirty different types of household surfaces are to be found in most New Zealand homes. All these need regular care and cleaning. When accidents cause staining, special cleaning techniques are required to restore the stained surface; but if the wrong method has been tried, it may result in further damage to the stained area. To help respond to enquiries about how to remove stains, The Home Science Information Service has revised and enlarged their publication “Stain Removal from Household Surfaces.” Based on the types of stains and surfaces information that has been most frequently sought over the years, the booklet includes suggested treatments for removing different stains from bathroom surfaces, carpets,
upholstery and wallpaper.
The miscellaneous section gives methods of cleaning household equipment such as electric irons, burnt saucepans, space heater windows and teapots. The booklet costjng $2 (including GST. and postage) is-available from The Home Science Information Service, Uni|versity of Otago, P.O. Box 56, Dunedin.
