New service era
The southern regional office of A.WA. New Zealand has moved to new premises at 32 Birmingham Drive in the Maryville industrial estate, Riccarton, Christchurch. After 12 years in St Asaph Street, the 3# staff of A.W.A. are looking forward to working in the beautiful parkland setting of Birmingham Drive. The Richard Proko designed tilt-slab concrete and mirror glass building heralds a new era in A.W.A. service in the South Island.
"The working conditions for the staff are excellent and we have maintained easy access for all our customers,” said the South Island, manager of Mr Geoff Ridley. The new building is another fast-track speciality put up by Hanham and Philp who earned a tremendous reputation for themselves in constructing the George Hotel in record time. “In W days our building was up and ready for occupation. It was a
superb effort by all the contractors Involved, and there was no compromise on quality. They were very thorough,” he said. Hanham and Philp was also responsible for the Interior partitioning and interior decorating and handled everything except the laying of the carpet and the establishment of the reception area. ' Landscaping and the laying of “ready lawn” means the building has a genuine lived-in look after only a week of occupancy.
