Appeal dismissed
An appeal by the connections of Alaska Lad against the horse's relegation from third to fourth in the Lion Grand National Steeplechase last month was dismissed in Christchurch yesterday. Alaska Lad was found to have interfered with Bymai in the closing stages of the race by the judicial committee on the ' toy, and Bymai was promoted to third. The appeal was conducted as a reheaifag and
during it the committee examined the portion of the track where the interference took place. The appeal committee concurred with the race day tribunal decision and found insufficient evidence to interfere with its findings. Harold Pateman, the rider of Alaska Lad, who had been fined $l5O on the day for his role in the incident, lodged an appeal also but it was withdrawn after the first hearing.
