Redundancy
Sir, —I consider it is hypocrisy for the member of Parliament for Yaldhurst to say she is "dismayed and upset” at the redundancies that have taken place in Christchurch during the last few days. She and her Government colleagues were the ones who implemented the policies that have sent so many of our manufacturing industries to the wall in the last two years.' It is amazing how gullible the voters of Christchurch were just four weeks ago when they returned so many Labour members to administer "more of the same?’ which results in the present lay-off. If this trend continues much longer our manufacturing base in the city will be almost non-existent; then where shall we go for shelter? — Yours, etc., M. J. MINEHAN. September 13, 1987.
