Camellia show
PA Blenheim Marlborough - grown camellias took most of the awards at the National Camellia Show held in Blenheim recently. Unfortunately, some of the North Island blooms had not travelled well to the show, but, over all, the standard of exhibits was high, said a spokesman for the Marlborough branch of the Camellia Society, Dr Bryan Bruce. The main awards were: Best camellia japonica: Elegans Champagne, Mr and Mrs Alastair Elliott, Blenheim. Best hybrid with no reticulate parentage: Anticipation, Mr and Mrs H. Howard, Blenheim. Best reticulata or reticulata hybrid: Outancha, Mr and Mrs T. C. Devereux, Motueka. Best miniature bloom: Usu-otome, Mr and Mrs W. H. Peters, Tauranga. Best small bloom: Dolly dyer, Mr and Mrs R. H. Roberts, Blenheim. Champion bloom of show: Moutancha, Mr and Mrs T. C. Devereux.
