WATER POLO Linwood will have to beat either Westlake H.S. (Auckland) or ■ Queen’s H.S. (Dunedin) to be in for a chance for a medal with one day’s play remaining in the New Zealand secondary schools water polo championships at Queen Elizabeth II Park pool. So far Linwood has had one loss and two draws and has been improving with each game. Church College (Hamilton) remains unbeaten after its 126 win against Hutt Valley and 12-4 win against Queen Margaret’s College yesterday. Queen’s H.S. (Dunedin) is also unbeaten after a hardfought battle against Christchurch combined schools and Westlake H.S. yesterday. HOCKEY The Canterbury primary schools’ hockey team won the Hatch Cup when it downed Northland, 2-0, in the final in Auckland yesterday.

Canterbury went ahead after 25 minutes when Scott Alexander netted and early in the second half sealed its win when David Hames scored.
