The Board Is supported by and represents the interest of a wide range of groups within the Industry, Including catching, processing, exporting and retailing. The Chief Executive plays a key role in the overall management and leadership of the Board's activities. These include both export and domestic marketing services; technical and economic information services; training; and monitoring/safeguarding the industry's interests. The position is located in Wellington, and reports directly to the Chairman. Whilst a tertiary qualification is desirable, key requirements are proven management and leadership skills, together with the personal characteristics to ensure continuing support and confidence of industry members. Although detailed experience of the fishing industry is not a prerequisite, experience in a commercial and results orientated environment is vitally important. Top level negotiating and communication skills, together with an ability to lead and motivate staff, are also essential.
