The two-part documentary entitled “The Sword of Islam,” screened by Television One on 8 and 15 September, deals with the Islamic radicals in Egypt and the militant Shi’ite groups in Lebanon. Does this film mislead its viewers? is Islam today as violent and dangerous as the film and much that we see in the media seem to suggest? The Department of Continuing Education is presenting a two session course, planned and coordinated by Dr William Shepard; on Fridays, September 25 and October 2 at 7.30 p.m. This will offer some background on the material presented by this film with a more balanced picture of the Islamic world today and the place of the violent groups within it.
