Long history of printing and stationery supplies
Established in 1918, Turners, Ltd, has a long history of serving the business houses of Christchurch with printing, stationery supplies and office equipment. During the years, the company has seen many changes in the way that it has done business, mainly due to the ever-changing demands of the market.
Despite this change, Turners has always tried to put customer service first in its business philosophy, according to the general manager, Mr Alan Turner.
During 1986, the management at Turners Colombo Street, under the guidance of Mr Turner, recognised that in order for the company to improve its level of service
and, therefore, its position in an ever-growing and competitive office supplies market place in Canterbury, it was necessary to reorganise the way the company handled its business.
Early this year, Turners managed to secure occupation of its entire building on the corner of Colombo and Tuam Streets. has operated out of this site for over 50 years.
Extensive renovations have resulted in an area in the main building of just on 1580 sq m of showroom, office space and warehouse. Renovation has been a costly exercise but, as Mr Turner says, “It is difficult to imagine how we all
operated in what now seems a somewhat disorganised and disjointed operation.
“The new showroom gives our customers the freedom to inspect our products without the impression of being crowded in.
“In fact, it is now a relatively straight-forward matter for a comprehensive demonstration to be held without causing total disruption to other customers and staff.
“All departments have now been incorporated into the main building, allowing customers the ability to move easily from one area to the next. We have at long last become a real one-stop office supply company,” Mr Turner said.
