Education claims appalling
Labour Youth, the youth wing of the New Zealand Labour Party is “appalled” at the deception that National is attempting with its education policy. The National Party claims that the Labour Party had let down students because they were leaving school with-
out the necessary skills. Mr Steven Bright, president of Labour Youth, said that if there was an education crisis, it was fault of the National Party. "Eveyone accepts that the first years of school are the most important,' and the time when the basic skills are learned.
“National was in control of our education system when these students first started school.” Mr Bright said it was time to stop blaming teachers for the problems and “to look to the real cause - the years of National bungling which the community was now paying for.”
