Broker acquired
Auckland sharebroking firm, Hendry Hay Mclntosh, Ltd, has acquired Wellington sharebroker, Des Tombe Gifford and Co. and will open offices in Wellington in August. According to Mr Alan Wills, managing director, this will allow Hendry Hay Mclntosh to provide Wellington-based service for the company’s private and institutional equity clients. Mr Wills said that Mr Des Tombe would become a director of Hendry Hay Mclntosh and would continue to direct the firm’s private client operation. Further key people will be employed in the company’s institutional equity and corporate advisory areas.
Hendry Hay Mclntosh’s Auckland office employs 90 people and last year sold a 30 per cent equity to the Mclntosh Hamson Hoare Govett group which is in turn linked to Hoare Govett, a large United Kingdom broking house.
