Sir, — One could say of the present election campaign “never before have so many, knowing so little, said so much.” Any candidate who suggests that Government monetary and fiscal policy can simultaneously reduce inflation, lower interest rates, reduce unemployment and lower the exchange rate is so lacking in any understanding of basic economic principles that he, or she, would be likely to endanger 4
