Renowned weaver
Rangimarie Hetet of Ngati Kinohaku ki Oparure is a renowned weaver whose raw materials are the flax, feathers and dyes of Te Ao Kahatu and Te Ao Hou. She is one of four generations of weavers in her family. A gifted craftsperson and artist, her work has been exhibited widely.

This remarkable woman, who was 95 years old in May, is featured in a documentary, screening as part of Maori Language Week, tonight at 6 on One. Influenced by kuia in her past, and supported by generations of family around her, she ensures that the ancient knowledge is not lost by passing on her skills to all who ask.
