New co-ordinator
The new co-ordinator of the Christchurch Youth Centre, Miss Bridget Hanrahan, has a background in promotions and publicity. Miss Hanrahan will begin work at the centre on August 3. She is at present working in the promotions office of the Court Theatre. Miss Hanrahan said she was excited about her new job and looking forward to the challenges it offered. “I have a strong personal interest in helping adolescents in difficulty and I believe the job will alow me to do something practical about that,” she said. “I also believe the Youth Centre is a valuable facility in Christ-
church and my aim is to hook in to what other groups are doing and make the centre a busy part of the youth scene.” Miss Hanrahan said the centre’s focus on entertainment fitted well with her background. Mr Martin McPherson, the former manager, had brought the standard up, she said. It was for her to keep that standard and go on from there. Miss Hanrahan came to Christchurch from Wellington about 4*/2 years ago. She became supervisor of the Garden City Guides, and in 1985 and 1986 she was promotions supervisor for the Christchurch City Council’s Summer Times programme.
